OpenMoteHack

Numbering

OpenMote is the generic name of the motes developed by the OpenWSN team. Each version of the board is numbered according to the following rules.

The full name of the board is

OpenMoteX A.B.C

Where:

  • X indicates the technology of the microntroller. Possible values are 8, 16 and 32 for 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers;
  • A is incremented when the BOM of the board has changed, i.e. a different chip is used on the board. This requires a change in firmware.
  • B is incremented when the schematic of the board has changed, i.e. pins are connected differently. This requires a change in firmware.
  • C is incremented when the layout of the board has changed, i.e. a new form factor. This does not requires a change in firmware.
