USB Hubs

It is convenient to have a hub to connect multiple motes to your computer during development. We have tried multiple models and the most convenient is the CyberPower High-Speed 7-Port USB Hub sold by Amazon for $30.

What we like about it:

  • you can connect 4 TelosB motes, 5 if you don't mind one being squeezed by the USB connector;
  • you can see all the LEDs of the motes when they are connected;
  • it is powered through USB, so you don't have to connect the (included) power adaptor;
  • if you remove the USB cable, the hub will still power the motes if it connected to a power plug (the only USB hub we tested to have this functionality).
